Impact over Hype | Big Rock 2025
As this year's Big Rock Blue Marlin tournament comes to a close, it has been fun to see our video production and photography work reach thousands of viewers throughout the event. Seeing all the comments has reminded me how powerful simple stories can be. We had a few videos air during key moments throughout the week, and seeing that visibility turn into real connection with people has been incredibly rewarding. Thanks to Jarrett Bay Boatworks and the Big Rock Tournament for their continued trust through the years.

Viral videos don’t mean anything (3.5 million views and counting)
I’ve never been one to obsess over social media views. For my business, online engagement has never had a direct coorelation with landing new customers or jobs. Maybe that’s because my ideal customers aren’t scrolling social media looking for video production contractors. Or maybe it’s because most of my posts don’t get seen by many people. I also constantly battle that little voice in the back of my head that anything I post on social media is contributing to a culture of time wasting. So I’ve always focused on the work and the relationships with my customers. I’ve mostly used social media to just show that I’m active in case one of my customers checks up on me.
That said, I recently had a post go viral and just for fun, I thought I’d share the numbers.
It’s been fun to watch it spread and read through all the comments (even from the trolls). But at the end of the day, nothing changes. I’m still focused on helping my customers by telling the best stories I know how to tell.

Hazen and Sawyer - Marketing Documentary
We joined Hazen and Sawyer in Birmingham, Alabama this past December to help them tell an important story for their company. This story spanned almost 30 years so we had to rely on interviews, present day b-roll and a few stock video clips to fill in any gaps. We worked along side their talented marketing team to get this video produced in only a few days.

I spent two days last week helping a customer update their content library with video and photography. We captured sunrise aerial shots with the drone and b-roll of their employees on the job. 2024 Family Highlight Video
When my son was born in 2012, I put together a simple highlight video for my wife so we wouldn’t forget all the little moments that came with such a big milestone. The following year she got pregnant with my daughter so I made another video for that milestone. Every year after that brought new milestones that justified putting together a video. Our phones, computers and icloud accounts have quickly filled up with these moments and putting together a video each year seems like it gets harder and harder for me. However, sometimes someone in the family will pull up youtube on the the TV and inevitably click on one of our old family highlight videos. Anyone within ear shot of the speaker will migrate to the living room and we’ll sit together and laugh and cry and remember how great life really is. I understand that living in the past isn’t wise. But that’s not what these videos are for. They act as a compass to keep us pointed in the right direction when ambition or discouragment try to deviate our path. We never stage moments for our videos, but we stay mindful of them, making sure to live our best life all year long so the videos are worth re-watching year after year. On to 2025!
